Richard Culverhouse Biography

I take a great interest in my community and surroundings and joined the Bawdrip Parish Council in December 2013 of which I have been a member up to the present day, the last 5 years as chairman.

I think I have demonstrated my commitment to the village during this period and would welcome the opportunity to serve for a further period.

I feel it is important for the village to be represented fairly by those who have an interest in their community without promoting personal interests.

He was born and grew up in Trowbridge Wiltshire, has been married to Jan for over 50 years and has one daughter Clare and granddaughter Mia.

He worked for Wiltshire County Council and qualified as an Accountant before joining the Water Industry in 1972. He moved to Woolavington in 1982 joining the Somerset Division of Wessex Water and later headed the Company’s Billing operation near Bristol. On retirement he ran his own Computer and printing business for a number of years.

He was a member of the charity Bridgwater Lions International for over 30 year before it closed having been its President four times.

He is founder trustee and chairman of the Bridgwater Talking News charity that provides Audio recordings of the local newspapers to the blind and partially sighted.

 He was also a member of Woolavington Parish Council for several years.

The family moved to Bawdrip Lane in Bawdrip in 2008 and is involved in various village activities including the Community Café and History Group.
